The Catholic Church has set up programs to allow people to seek compensation for their abuse from the church without filing a lawsuit. Even if they turned you down that doesn't mean you can't file a civil case. Participating in one of those programs is solely up to you. But I would recommend before you sign anything or accept any settlement with them that you consult an attorney
