Al shared his experience of being sexually abused by a police officer at the age of 13. He had no idea that what had happened to him was illegal, although he knew it was wrong and disgusting. He urges anyone who find themselves in a similar situation to get away from the person and reach out for help.

I had no idea that when a man sexually performed a sexual act on me I had no idea that was illegal. I had no idea. I knew it felt wrong. I knew it was disgusting, I knew it wasn't right but I had no idea. Especially the fact that he was a police officer. That he could be charged and he committed a crime. He was the police so in my 13 year old mind I couldn't process what had happened to me. And if another kid 13 year old were in my shoes I would say immediately, Get away from that person. Reach out and get help. Do what you have to do to get out of that situation.
