Jeff emphasizes the importance of having a civil statute of limitation long enough to allow survivors to bring a civil lawsuit against their abuser. He notes that it is critical because many perpetrators continue to abuse children even in their old age, and the only way to stop them is by holding them accountable. Jeff states that just because a case is old doesn't mean it's not worth pursuing, and even if a survivor doesn't win, drawing attention to the perpetrator is an essential part of the Civil Justice System.
Having a civil statute of limitation that's long enough to allow a Survivor to bring a civil lawsuit is critically important some people think it happened so long ago does it even matter anymore of course it matters because we know that even if it takes a Survivor 30 years to disclose the abuse we often find that when the perpetrator is still alive they're still abusing kids that's 70 and 80 years old in Walkers and wheelchairs because pedophiles don't retire and the only way we're going to stop them from abusing Kids is for someone to hold them accountable and come forward and tell their truth so it's really important to understand just because your case is old doesn't mean that you're not going to win but even besides winning drawing attention and exposing perpetrators is an incredibly important part of the Civil Justice System
